About NZ Calculator

NZ Calculator publishes free, New Zealand-specific calculators for money, tax, insurance and home projects. Every tool is built to explain its method, not just produce a number.

What we do

NZ Calculator is an independent website providing practical calculation tools for New Zealanders. We cover KiwiSaver, savings, term deposits, retirement planning, loans, currency conversion, GST, house and contents insurance, and common home-building quantities such as concrete, decking, paint and roofing.

Each calculator is designed to make the result understandable, not just deliver a figure. Where relevant, pages show the formula used, the assumptions behind it, and a review date so you know how current the information is.

How we build and review calculators

Transparent methods

We show or explain the calculation method and key assumptions on every calculator page, rather than hiding the logic behind a single output.

New Zealand context

Tools use New Zealand terminology, dollars and, where a calculation depends on it, current New Zealand rules or official data.

Clear limitations

We state plainly when a result is a general estimate rather than a quote, valuation, approval or personalised advice.

Visible review dates

Pages that depend on changing rates, thresholds or rules display when they were last reviewed.

Sources we reference

Individual calculator pages cite their specific sources. Across the site, we draw on official New Zealand organisations including:

What NZ Calculator is not

NZ Calculator is not a government agency, bank, insurer, lender, tax agent or building professional. We do not provide personalised financial, tax, legal, insurance or building advice, and we do not recommend specific providers or products.

Every calculator produces a general estimate based on the values you enter. Actual outcomes depend on your personal circumstances, current provider terms, and rules that can change after a page was last reviewed. Always confirm important decisions with the relevant official agency, provider, or an appropriately qualified professional.
