Annual salary to hourly, weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay
The gross conversion divides annual salary by 12 months, 26 fortnights or 52 weeks. The hourly amount divides annual salary by the entered weekly hours multiplied by 52. Actual employment agreements may use paid hours, unpaid breaks, overtime, public holidays and leave differently.
The take-home column is a quick annualised estimate for a main source of employment income. For tax-code choices, secondary income and a full deduction breakdown, use the PAYE Calculator NZ.
2026/27 settings used for the take-home estimate
The estimate applies current individual tax bands and the 2026/27 ACC earners’ levy of 1.75% up to the published maximum earnings amount. Optional KiwiSaver and student loan deductions are annualised.
Official sources: Inland Revenue individual tax rates and ACC earners’ levy rates.
Salary Calculator NZ: Annual, Monthly, Weekly & Hourly Pay FAQs
How do I convert annual salary to an hourly rate?
Divide annual gross salary by the number of paid working hours in the year. A common estimate is weekly hours multiplied by 52, but the employment agreement may require a different method.
How do I convert salary to fortnightly pay?
Divide annual salary by 26 for a gross fortnightly estimate. Payroll rounding and actual pay dates can create small differences.
Does this salary calculator include tax?
Yes. It shows a quick annualised take-home estimate using current tax and ACC settings, with optional KiwiSaver and student loan deductions.
Is salary the same as take-home pay?
No. Salary usually means gross pay before deductions. Take-home pay is the amount remaining after PAYE, ACC and any other payroll deductions.
Why use the PAYE calculator as well?
The PAYE page provides a more detailed tax and deduction breakdown, including tax-code choices and pay-period results.
